Very good coffee!

Went to Bootlegger on a Saturday morning at 9am with a group of 12 from our swim team. We were all pretty hungry and looking forward to breakfast, but were told they had already run out of flapjacks. We were only trying to order five portions, and they said there was just one left, which was surprising considering how popular it is and how early it still was. This meant we had to order other meals instead of what we actually came for, which was disappointing. The food we did get was really good, so no complaints there. Service was okay. Another downside was that they couldn’t properly accommodate our group. For a table of 12, they weren’t able to put together a bigger table, which wasn’t ideal, although we made a plan. What made the experience more frustrating was that as we were leaving, we saw multiple tables who were seated after us being served flapjacks. This left us feeling a bit unfairly treated, especially as a group of students, and it did feel like we weren’t prioritised in the same way. Overall, Bootlegger still serves good food, but this visit was disappointing. Running out of a key item so early, not accommodating a bigger group, and the inconsistency with the flapjacks took away from the experience. UPDATE: Bootleggers was very friendly and open minded, had a chat to them and they cleared up any confusion, much better customer service that many other places.

I stopped by Bootlegger Stellenbosch last week and had such a great experience. A huge thank you to Wayden and the gentleman with the tattoos for the outstanding service—they were friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. I ordered the chicken livers with a flat white, and both were absolutely delicious. The food was full of flavour, the coffee was perfectly made, and the overall atmosphere was fantastic. It's great to receive service with a smile, and I'll definitely be back. Highly recommended!
